UNEP 2008 International Children's Conference on the Environment (TUNZA)
Lundin Petroleum acted as corporate partner to United Nations Environment Program's (UNEP) Conference on "Creating Change: Learning by Doing". The conference gathered approximately 700 children in the city of Stavanger, Norway, to discuss energy, water, biodiversity and consumption issues. Lundin Petroleum made a presentation in a plenary session on Corporate Responsibility and actions taken by the Company to promote or preserve the environment. This conference will be referenced at the Copenhagen Climate Change Conference in 2009.

Sudanese Development Call Organisation, Sudan
Sudanese Development Call Organization (NIDAA) is a non-profit non-governmental organisation founded in 1998 with strong interest and commitment to rural development issues. Lundin Petroleum sponsored the 6th International Symposium of Village Concepts Project hosted by NIDAA in December 2007. The Village Concept Project aims at focusing on all developmental needs of a village at once. The symposium's objective was to improve the models of public-private partnership to promote village concepts projects internationally and to discuss means of addressing rural development in Sudan.

Southern Sudan Older People’s Organisation (SSOPO), South Sudan
In 2006, Lundin Petroleum financed a poverty alleviation and life skills support project, whereby caregivers of HIV/AIDS orphaned children were given vocational training and sewing machines. SSOPO has also assisted in delivering the training to women provided in the Women Development Centres financed by Lundin Petroleum.

In 2008, Lundin Petroleum has provided institutional and financial support to SSOPO to enable it to purchase food processing materials for the carrying out of an important Grassroots Human Security project in the Juba area, financed by the Japanese embassy in Sudan. The project consists in building a training center where older people are to be taught handicrafts, food processing and sale, as well as management of income generated through those activities.

Past Project

Vet-Care Organisation, Sudan
Vet-Care Organisation is a Sudanese NGO which has particular expertise in the veterinarian sector. In 2006, Vet-Care started implementing a food security and capacity building program on behalf of Lundin Petroleum in Juba, the capital of South Sudan. The project began with the refurbishment of the main veterinarian clinic and the supply of necessary equipment and products. The clinic is staffed and run by Juba authorities.

In 2007, Vet Care has built on behalf of Lundin Petroleum four Women Development Centres. With the support of another local NGO, Southern Sudan Older People’s Organisation, Vet Care has trained executive committees of the four Centres on simple managerial skills in order to help them handle small projects and donations. Women have also been trained as trainers to provide some vocational training to local women.

Miscellaneous
In addition to the projects listed above, Lundin Petroleum has granted small sums to a number of cultural, HSE, humanitarian or sports initiatives which promote good corporate citizenship on a local or international level.
